Economically fast developing
metropolitan areas of the world always produce serious traffic jam
problems which affect both the development of the city and the lives of
its citizens in an adverse manner.
Due to the fact that the Mass Rapid Transit System operates on a
specialized track, its cars are not affected by the traffic on the road,
it can send out cars frequently and quickly during rush hour,
transporting large numbers of riders, to relieve the congestion of the
street traffic. The most outstanding quality of the Mass Rapid Transit
System is the automatic operation control system, which urgently
necessitates a system which will train persons with no experience
operating Mass Rapid Transit cabs to become qualified drivers. Thus Cab
Driving Simulation System is born.
This entire system uses a computer to control a driving cab, and create
possible circumstances which may occur while driving the trains. Then
using videodiscs, overhead projectors¡Ketc., combines actual filmed
images of the train on the tracks with computer images onto the display
systems to the trainee front, rear, left and right sides. This will be
used to train drivers to be familiar with the operation of the Mass
Rapid Transit System cabs and other related equipment so that in the
case of emergency situations, immediate appropriate action will be taken
to ensure the safety of the operation of the Mass Rapid Transit System.
System Configuration
The Cab Driving Simulation System
consists of two independent driving simulation rooms (CAB Simulator #1.
#2), and can be used to train two students at a time. There is also the
Instructor¡¦s Computer and the Control Desk, used to plan training
classes and to watch over and operate the above mentioned driving
simulation cabs. The entire framework and structure of the system is as
above:

In the matter of software, there includes
main computer system software, control panel software, image integration
software and malfunction training software¡Ketc., to help instructors and
user to more conveniently and efficiently operate the driving simulation
system and to cultivate outstanding cab operators.

computer hardware, software and network facilities to create this
complete driving simulation system. In coordination with various
training classes, it will enable trainees to become familiar with the
Mass Rapid Transit System cab facilities, its operations and situations
which may occur during driving in a short period of time so that they
may quickly become qualified and competent cab operators.
