Introduction
A statutory taxation system serves as the foundation of a country¡¦s
economical growth. A sound taxation system allows the government to
collect tax in an effective manner, generating an increasing source of
revenue for the government to invest in enhancing the wellbeing of the
country and its people.
MiTAC is honored to have the opportunity to design and deploy all the
Integrated Taxation Administration Information System (M-ITAIS) during
past three decades to many government agencies. The M-ITAIS included
Taxpayer registration, Tax return filing & processing, auditing,
compliance, billing collection management, enforcement audit
selection¡Ketc. It assists to upgrade the administration efficiency and
innovation the convenience service system. Today, MiTAC is also
responsible to operate, maintain and continuously upgrade the Taxation
Administration Information System. Currently, the M-ITAIS used by more
than 12,000 tax officials spread out over five Regional Tax Offices and
GDT daily. It collects more than 7 million tax cases of individual
income taxes, 3 million companies VAT and business income taxes, 8
million of vehicle taxes, and a variety of house taxes, land taxes,
duties, commodity taxes, wine & tobacco taxes, transaction security
taxes and many more taxation function. The annual tax revenue collected
is over 50 billion USD. This achievement has drawn a lot of attention
and praise from many countries around the world.

Benefits of using M-ITAIS
¡¯ Significant improvement of tax revenue from 2 billion USD in early
1970s¡¦ to over 50 Billion USD in 2005.

Conclusion
After the successful development and
deployment of the M-ITAIS it has become a worldwide reference for a
successful taxation system. Delegations from Korea, Thailand, USA,
Singapore, China, Islamic Republic of Iran, Vietnam, Brunei, Indonesia,
Nicaragua, Chile, Malawi, Peru, Costa Rica, and many other countries
have visited the Financial Data Center in Taiwan in order to observe the
system and seek advice from the designers of the system. The M-ITAIS now
collects more than 80% of the Government¡¦s annual revenue. This is one
of the most healthy government revenue collection structures and systems
in the world.
With this strong taxation administration information system serving as
the basis of the Government¡¦s financial structure, the government can
rapidly implement new and revised national policies. For example, an
All-In-One Functional Counter service and a unified tax payer account
management allows tax officers to monitor and manage information from
multiple agencies and the one-stop service for various requests.
Additional enhancements have been implemented to provide the Ministry of
Finance with daily updates on the tax collection information, the
national wealth and to provide financial information to social welfare
groups for immediate action.. |
